Chelsea wages: Who is the best paid player at the Blues and everything you need to know about Chelsea's salary bill

How much do the Blues players earn annually and who receives the most into their account?

Chelsea’s financial strength plays a crucial role in their ability to attract elite players and secure high-profile transfers. Supported by affluent ownership and a somewhat spendthrift transfer strategy, the club generates substantial revenue through diverse channels, such as sponsorship agreements, commercial partnerships, and matchday sales.

This financial power allows Chelsea to offer competitive wages and attractive signing bonuses, making the club a top destination for world-class talent. Their consistent participation in European competitions further boosts their appeal, reinforcing their status as a major force in the transfer market.

The Blues' inflated squad size is indicative of the fact that they are one of the biggest spenders in the league in terms of wage, but none of their players make into the top 10 highest-earning players in England. In fact, there are just two Chelsea players in the top 20 list.

So, who is the highest earner at Chelsea this season? And who is on the opposite end of the spectrum?

    Goalkeepers

No surprises here as first-choice goalkeeper Robert Sanchez is also first on the list of the highest-paid Chelsea goalkeepers, followed closely by his deputy in Filip Jorgensen.

For someone who has played just one game for Chelsea since joining the club in 2021, Bettinelli earns perhaps a lot more than a third-choice goalkeeper might warrant, especially considering the wages of Sanchez and Jorgensen.

Finally, we have Finnish custodian Lucas Bergstrom, who earns the least among his fellow Blues goalkeepers.

    Name Salary
    Robert Sanchez £3,120,000
    Filip Jorgensen £2,600,000
    Marcus Bettinelli £1,820,000
    Lucas Bergstrom £390,000

    Defenders

Three players who have featured sparingly for Chelsea, albeit for different reasons, are the club's highest earners not only in defence but across the entire squad. These include Reece James and Wesley Fofana, both of whom have struggled to overcome persistent injury problems, and Ben Chilwell, who has fallen out of favor under coach Enzo Maresca.

Other defenders, such as Marc Cucurella, Tosin Adarabioyo, Levi Colwill, Benoit Badiashile, and Axel Disasi, also earn significant salaries. Meanwhile, Malo Gusto, Renato Veiga, and Josh Acheampong are among the lowest-paid defenders on the roster.

    Name Salary
    Reece James £13,000,000
    Ben Chilwell £10,400,000
    Wesley Fofana £10,400,000
    Marc Cucurella £9,100,000
    Tosin Adarabioyo £6,240,000
    Levi Colwill £5,200,000
    Benoit Badiashile £4,680,000
    Axel Disasi £4,160,000
    Malo Gusto £2,340,000
    Renato Veiga £1,300,000
    Josh Acheampong £260,000

    Midfielders

One might assume that Cole Palmer, arguably the team's standout player, would be the highest earner in the squad. However, he isn't even the highest-paid midfielder at Chelsea, with that distinction going to Argentine star Enzo Fernandez. In fact, club-record signing Moises Caicedo is higher up the ladder than Palmer, with the former Manchester City starlet ranking third on this list.

Much like Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka has been on the periphery under Maresca and isn't a part of his plans, yet he is earning over five million annually.

    Name Salary
    Enzo Fernandez £9,360,000
    Moises Caicedo £7,800,000
    Cole Palmer £6,760,000
    Carney Chukwuemeka £5,200,000
    Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall £4,160,000
    Romeo Lavia £2,340,000
    Cesare Casadei £390,000

    Attackers

Among forwards, the highest-earning players are Christopher Nkunku and Pedro Neto, with the former earning in double digits annually.

Surprisingly, Joao Felix, Jadon Sancho, and Mykhailo Mudryk earn as much as, or even more than, striker Nicolas Jackson. Meanwhile, Noni Madueke and young forward Marc Guiu find themselves at the bottom of this list.

    Name Salary
    Christopher Nkunku £10,140,000
    Pedro Neto £8,320,000
    Joao Felix £6,760,000
    Jadon Sancho £5,200,000
    Mykhailo Mudryk £5,200,000
    Nicolas Jackson £5,200,000
    Noni Madueke £2,600,000
    Marc Guiu £2,600,000
